Why you’ll love this Glowing Banana Smoothie Recipe
I’ve never given a damn about my skincare:
Guys, let me be honest.
I have never been this girly girl, who had this big morning routine;
I’ve avoided spending ages in the bathroom,
putting on SEVEN, yes SEEN different facial products: (OMG Just had to google the order to apply for your skincare order, and there are SEVEN BLOODY STEPS FML)
- First a cleanser,
- Then a toner,
- A bloody serum (wtf is a serum?)
- then eye cream,
- then a spot treatment (of course you have spots, after all of their products!)
- A moisturizer,
- A face oils
- A sunscreen (P.S. why did I think all along it was called suncream?).
But for some reason recently that’s all I am seeing on social. I guess to make a fortune of money from all of this, makes sense if you work in the beauty branch!
I never had much money to spend on lots of products, and neither wanted to spend much on that kind of stuff. Because even when I’ve tried to for periods, my skin was still never like this super smooth, “glowing”, youthful “Instagramable” peachy, skin type.
How my skin has changed through my diet
“Girl..get to the POINT:”
But now since, I’ve eaten a lot healthier over the last months, I have noticed a change in my skin and my body.
So, I have been looking into, which fruits and veggies can help out with clearer, better skin, and I have found that mangos and even bananas can help you with that.
New me: Plant-based VS Old Me: Processed foods
That’s why I LOVE eating plant-based foods. Lots of veggies, and fruits, (smoothies, salat, legumes, grains), while cutting out as many processed foods as possible.
Because fruits and veggies, are just helping you and your body in the most natural way to heal, fight diseases and become the most beautiful version of yourself. Inside and outside.
Sorry… does this sound like a load of crap??
Haha maybe. I got a little carried away, but I am just

The Glowing Banana Smoothie Ingredients
To keep the blender going. By now you probably know, that you need more milk for less powerful blenders, and less for high-speed blenders.
Start with less milk first, and then work yourself up.
Use unsweetened milk or fat-reduced milk for optimum health benefits.
Not this is the SECRET, why I believe this recipe turned out soooo creamy and so thick! I bought a fresh mango and froze it myself the day before. (chopped into pieces, of course)
In the past, I’ve always bought already frozen mangos, and they never turned out that smooth, and creamy.
Let me know in the comment section if you have noticed a difference between fresh fruit, that you freeze or store-bought, already frozen fruits that you blend!
For the taste, it also adds thickness. Make sure that you use also super ripe bananas before you chop and freeze them.
If you want an extra health boost to get clear and healthy skin, and take care of your joints, muscle and hair, then you can also add your favourite collagen powder to your smoothie. One or 2 scoops, directly after the milk and before the frozen ingredients.

7 Tips for making this Thick and Creamy Smoothie in a Regular = Cheap Blender
- Chop your fruits into small pieces.
- Make sure the cut pieces are EVEN sizes.
- Try to use not too much liquid first. Add more when needed.
- Remember if you blend your smoothie for too long or on too high, it’s turning into a thin smoothie: Start and stop constantly. In the breaks either shake your smoothie, so that the liquid, and blend gets mixed properly. Or ideally, mash with a tamper (or wooden spoon) your blend down!
- Avoid ice (made from water or “thin” liquids, although the smoothie does get thicker, it gets “slushier”
- Get yourself a mini-ice tray set and freeze canned coconut milk (because this milk is much thicker and creamier than water).
- Let the fruits, if they are too hard thaw (10-20 min) a little, rather than using so much liquid, that it will never turn into a thick smoothie bowl.
Overall if you love smoothies, and think you could make them long-term it might be time to invest in a more expensive blender. It doesn’t need to be necessarily a Vitamix, but they last a lifetime!! And it’s so worth it.
Buy it on black-Friday or get it for Christmas, or save up a few months.

Don’t be shy to jump to the feedback & question section at the bottom, and ask me ANYTHING! 🙂
Mostly, you can use any type of milk in this recipe, even dairy.
Popular choices are any unsweetened plant-based milk types.
Well….my favourites milk produces in smoothies are:
Coconut milk (makes it very tasty, and gives it a tropical vibe), oat milk and even rice milk are good. And last but not least soy milk (for its high nutritional profile).
Finally, you never go wrong with almond milk of course, although I don’t love to support the almond milk production.
Plus, it’s missing its protein, fat and nutrition.
If you should go with almond milk, again make sure to choose an unsweetened one, unflavoured and one that is ideally fortified with calcium and vitamin D. That’s the general rule.
Although if you consume lots of smoothies, then you still get plenty of vitamin D and calcium to you, through them.
Yes, you can!! This might be a shocking answer, but it is true. Banana skin is highly nutritional and is used in many recipes around the world.
They are loaded with fibre, potassium and antioxidants.
Make sure to use a very ripe banana, because not only the “flesh” will be sweeter, but also the skin.
And very important to keep the health risk to a minimum, by buying organic bananas. The reason is regular bananas could be exposed to pesticides.
Yahaas! Banana smoothies are very good for your body and your health. Banana is low in calories, and high in potassium, and manganese.
Bananas are good for your heart, high in fibre and therefore great for your digestion. On top of that, the yellow fruit is also very filling.
Also, did you know that bananas are producing serotonin, which makes you happy, and fights depression and anxiety? It also ensures that you get a good night’s sleep. Read up more on the health benefits of this Banana Smoothie.
You can use plenty of fruit that mixes well with bananas.
From tropical fruits: Mangos, pineapples, and kiwis, over to berries, such as strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, over to grapes. Bananas are a great base for nearly any fruit.
Also, citrus fruits pair very well with bananas, such as lime, lemon or oranges. You can freeze them, add them whole as fresh fruit, or just add the juice.
Additionally, you can match apples, pears, peaches, and other fruits that are delicious with bananas.
If you love bananas, then there isn’t any fruit that doesn’t pair well with them I believe.
Note: The only fruit I haven’t matched with bananas is a watermelon. Because from a digestive point of view it the best to consume watermelon on its own. But I have never tried it myself.
Well, well hello? Have you read the title? Haha. Yes!
Bananas can be great for clear and glowing skin because they contain manganese. Manganese produces collagen, which is important for healthy skin, hair, joints, muscles and nails.
Besides, bananas also are considered a
good source of vitamin C, which is an antioxidant which also helps produces collagen
